Hi, I’m Jon!

Jon Still

I’m a network engineer for a medium-sized company in London and I’m fairly fortunate to have had exposure to a number of network technologies, mostly centered around routing/switching and security, but also some voice, storage and wireless.  I re-gained my CCNP certification in November 2010 and I’m now working towards CCIE R&S – I’ve recently passed the written exam and I’m now preparing for the lab exam.  Most of my posts on this blog will be around that as I think it’s a topic where I can hopefully produce some posts that might be of use to people!

I’m a big technology geek in general – I’m a Mac user at home and have an iPad for reading eBooks and looking at videos while on the move. I’m also interested in embedded tech – there’s an Arduino and Lego Mindstorms in the attic that are just waiting for me to have some time to play with.  I’m also an aviation geek and hope to gain a microlight pilot’s license at some point in the future!  I’ve also recently bought myself a folding bike with the idea of commuting to work at some point in the future!

I live 40 miles outside of London, UK with my wife Alice and our daughter Amelia.

You can also find me on Twitter as @xanthein.
